  • 8" to 12" concrete footing - 42" deep

Ledger

  • 3/8" or 1/2" x 5" lag screws, staggered every 16"

Framing Posts

  • 4"x4" green treated
  • 4"x6" green treated deck over 4' high
  • 6"x6" green treated deck over 8' high

Double Beams

  • 2"x8" to 2"x10" on sides of post

Joists

  • 2"x6" to 2"x8" boards, 16" on center with joist hanger

Decking

  • 5/4"x6" decking fastened by screws, run horizontal or vertical to the house

Railings

  • 2"x2" balusters spaced 3.5", fastened with screws
  • 2"x6" board for top cap
  • (2) 2"x4" horizontal boards

Stairs

  • 42" Wide
  • 2"x2" balusters spaced 3.5"
  • 2"x4" board for top cap
  • 2"x12" stair stringers
  • 4"x4" posts
  • Graspable handrail on one side
  • (2) 5/4"x6" treads per step
